Sayoc Kali


Sayoc Kali is a Filipino system named after the family who developed their blend of edged weapon martial arts. The word, “Sayoc” is but *ONE* family’s art represented in the Filipino Martial Arts. Filipino Martial Arts has many systems and the original instructors’ last names often precedes one of three root terms, “Kali”, “Eskrima” or “Arnis”. The head of the Sayoc Kali system is Pamana Tuhon Chistopher C. Sayoc Sr. Many of the full instructors under SayocKali are current or retired law enforcement officers. Others have worked security. They teach real world application against the hostile world of knife attacks. Sayoc Kali stresses the importance of responsibility for one’s actions, and informing the public of the dangers of edged weapons.

Kali

Worldwide, the Filipino martial arts are usually called one of three terms, “Kali”, “Eskrima” or “Arnis”. With hundreds of years of armed conflict between many cultures, Kali is the consolidation of their vast combative influences. A sampling of these cultures include the Malaysians, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, Arabs and the Philippine archipelago’s numerous Indigenous tribes. Kali pooled together the proven fighting techniques of Europe, the Middle East and Asia into a single effective martial art.




THE TRAINING GROUP

Albany Sayoc is a martial arts training group located in upstate New York.  It is comprised of members and practioners of Sayoc Kali.  It is the purpose and goal to spread awareness and gift of Sayoc Kali and FMA to martial arts enthusiasts and practitioners in the Tri-city area (Albany, Schenectady and Troy).
